THE APLETON-FALL GAZETTE CREEK 6 AUGUST 1982 The Newspaper of the Mapleton-Fall Creek Neighborhood: A Volume No. 1 Our Slogan and Challenge: Unity in Diversity Great Place to Live Issue No. 10 Crime Watch For Your Block by Walton Ewin The entire neighborhood can benefit from a CRIMEWATCH program which involves residents and local law and government agencies working together. It's primary purpose is to protect you against burglaries and other neighborhood crimes. The CrimeWatch staff will help you establish a block club and train you on how to report suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Part of their training is a do-it-yourself home security survey which will give you tips on door locks, lighting, and property identification. Once a block club is established, it will be assisted by CrimeWatch with monthly bulletins sent to the block club captain and help with ideas for meetings. KIDWATCH is another program from the CrimeWatch people. Children in the neighborhood will be shown how to spot suspicious activity as it occurs. Get to know your neighbors. Call CrimeWatch at 236-3242 to arrange a meeting date for your block. Gazette Expands New 8-Page Format The Gazette Guild is very happy to need to expand to eight pages — doubling in size. We do need more ads or gifts to stay solvent — About $300/month. Any help that you can give will be appreciated.
